Fasting is one of the most essential things in truth which we take part in that helps us spiritually, mentally, and physically. We often say that fasting is what helps bring us closer to the Most High but we don’t always go into detail on how fasting actually does do this.

Fasting is a lot more than just how long we are able to fast; it is how it changes us as people. It teaches us discipline and gratitude. It teaches us discipline in the manner of being able to withstand the carnal longing for food and water for a considerable period of time. It teaches us gratitude in the manner of us truly weighing the value of food and water being readily available for us each and every day; a fortune that is actually not the case for most people in the world believe it or not. Many people eat food just to eat. We eat food to live; we don’t live to eat. This does not mean that we shouldn’t enjoy our food and eat well. It means that we should not become gluttonous and eating food even when we’re not hungry. One thing that must be considered when looking at our plates of food each day is the true value of having that meal. We often as a people don’t sit back and truly think of the fortune and mercy which comes from each meal that we are able to have; even the snacks. We don’t truly understand the value of something until we lose it. We always take everything we have for granted because for some reason we believe that everything that we have is going to be there tomorrow. There is no tomorrow truthfully speaking; meaning that there is no guarantee that what we have now is going to be in our possession tomorrow. This is why we always must be thankful for what we have. Not to be that type of person but there are so many people starving and have already experienced famines in their lifetime across the globe. In America, the only people who really think about the value of each meal that they come across are the people who are struggling heavily and are living paycheck-to-paycheck. It is only them who truly consider the value of food and water. Most Americans just sit back eating half their refrigerator every day watching TV shows or scrolling through Twitter watching the world go by them. Most Americans in general take everything for granted. When you have everything at your feet, you begin to expect it to be at your feet in perpetuity. Once it doesn’t show up at your feet when you expected it to be, you throw a tantrum. This is the modern day person in a nutshell. Even with our own families or friends, they look at us with a puzzled look or think we’re crazy because we decide to fast. They tell us, “Quit fooling around and go eat something!” Everyone’s minds are on food and not true progression. Of course, growth takes the most time because growth is measured every day for the rest of our lives. There is no finish line to growth where we stop growing at a certain age. Growth is for each and every day until our last day living. It is not a matter of sitting back and relaxing forever doing nothing after you’ve grown fully as a person. There is no such thing as a fully complete person. Growth is a constant thing where we are building up on top of what has been built until our time is called by the Most High. This is the same thing where people have this notion where you can work out for six months on a rigorous diet and after they get the body they want, they can relax and their body is going to stay the same forever. No, you have to keep working out to maintain that body and rather grow physically to be even better and stronger. Having said that, this lack of focus on growth stems from the structure of American society which has been put forth by the controllers of America. That’s a topic for another time.

Since everyone’s focus is on food, drinking, work, money, possessions, sex, or fame, we are not truly focusing on what makes us complete which is our spirit and our mind. This is why America is so bugged out and has been for decades. America teaches you to chase money and to desire things which tap into the self-gratification and self-aggrandizement aspect of the mind. Those are all things which are not absolute and are finite. People have no understanding or belief in the Most High which is why they give themselves completely over to their jobs, relationships, money, etc. This is one of the main factors which ultimately stems back to the people’s inability to understand the true value of food and water. This life is all that there is for them so they believe that food and water are always going to stick around when that is not the case necessarily. Everything in this life is subject to change because there is nothing absolute or immovable in the flesh. The only thing that is absolute and immovable is the Most High. Our fasts are to remind us that the Most High is what we should only give our life completely over to in devotion; not to our jobs or relationships or people. It reminds us that the Most High’s mercy is what brings us the food in which we eat and the water in which we drink. It reminds us that we cannot forsake the Most High because without Him, we don’t have food and water. It brings the thought that food and water is finite but the Most High is not. Fasting helps reaffirm the order in this life which is the Most High coming first before any and all things. This is what we often forget about and it is to our own detriment.

Fasting is much more than just withholding yourself from food and water for a certain period of time. It is a moment of connection between ourselves and the Creator because we think back to the order of things and what truly matters and who our lives should be guided by each and every day. This is what is spoken of in Matthew 6:16-18 which states,

“16 Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

17  But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face;

18  That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.”

These verses from Matthew 6 show us that fasting truly is about the Creator and not about the validation of others because of how long you can fast or simply because you are fasting. This is not to say that the lengths of our fasts are not important because it is since it can determine our level of endurance and resilience in withholding ourselves from our desires and it provides greater spiritual strength overall. It is another thing when we do it to simply say we are fasting or for how long we are fasting for validation and putting ourselves on a pedestal above others like the men mentioned in verse 16 about them disfiguring their faces to appear to men as them fasting for the reward of their validation and praise. We are not to gloat or brag about our fasts. It is only supposed to be amongst our closest brothers and sisters within our circle who are to know at most. When you scream to the heavens that you fasted for ‘x’ amount of time, you completely invalidate your fast and your spiritual work through that fast is taken away by the Most High because He sees that you did it from a place of pride and not humility or love for Him. When you do things for the appraisal of others, it will never be counted truly as something worthy of note in the Most High’s eyes because it is not for Him, it is for yourself. Our actions in the truth when it is being presented towards others are to be done for the purpose of pleasing Him and not ourselves. Even the little things in which we teach to our brothers in truth for edification are about building up the church for the purpose of making His Word and Way manifest here in the world through his servants. Everything we do from a spiritual and intellectual standpoint are to be done for the purpose of serving the Most High. If we are speaking on certain topics, it is to help bring others to understanding of those things so they can ultimately see to it to bring themselves over in humility to the Most High because knowledge without spiritual guidance is without value or purpose. When we do things for the purpose of praising the Father, our reward comes forth tenfold. Whatever we are doing, the purpose in which we are doing it for in secret is what will determine the reward in which we get; whether it is a positive reward which helps us flourish or a form of judgment from the Most High for using His Word and His blessings which He gave unto you to come into the truth as a way to simply gain followers to build yourself up in your own form of self-aggrandizement and self-worship. While others may not know your true thoughts and intentions, the Most High knows. You may think you are getting away with things simply because no one is up to you and your true intentions but your tail is being held by the Most High and you are simply running in place. The Most High will eventually put the spirit on you to reveal yourself before the church and make them see you for who you truly are which would then put forth the beginning of the end for you as a form of judgment for using Him as a way to build yourself up.

Getting back to the main point of this topic, fasting can heal us from many things; specifically spiritually. Fasting can heal us from anger. We often hold a lot of anger within ourselves because of past trauma from life experiences or from our hatred of this society. We talked about this in the Quarrels article. Anger also stems from the hormones which are artificially produced from junk food. The junk food which we eat contains chemicals which completely puts our hormones off balance and produces mood swings which leads us to have more anger. This is one of the ways which anger is created. Fasting can help regenerate our immune systems and help establish hormonal balance to a certain extent and can also cleanse our bodies in supplication with things such as sea moss. Fasting can help bring our emotional state in balance and keep us from giving into anger any further. However, we must not completely rely on fasting as the magical elixir which will help set us right emotionally. In this case, fasting is simply a branch on the tree of recovery. You must have a spiritual motive and an initiative to change your mindset and become better. Anger can really set us back and keep us from becoming better in the truth. Remember that without charity, we are nothing as stated in 1 Corinthians 13. We don’t have love for our brothers because we hold so much anger and hatred inside. When we don’t heal ourselves of that anger and eradicate it, it comes out of us and lashes out at those around us. We become like roaring lions. We tear down everyone around us and we are left with nothing in the end. This is why fasting is important and crucial for many different reasons because it helps put things into perspective and in its proper order and keeps us in a spiritual state. We cannot truly love the Most High if we do not have love for our brothers and sisters. Fasting should be done by people who have these anger issues. However, it should be emphasized that it must be done in supplication with a healthy diet of proper nutrition, the will to improve, and humility. This is all that should be done in order to heal from that anger. We’ve all come across people in this life who are always angry and hateful. Those are people who need serious healing and need to grow out of that before it completely consumes them and ultimately costs them their crown or their own life. When you are angry or live by the sword, you die by the sword or rather by your own creation of self-destruction. This is even described in Matthew 26:52 when it states, “Then said Yahweh Ben Yahweh unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.” This is talking about how those who live by wrath and anger will die by their own hands due to creating their own demise through their own decisions. We can cross reference this to Proverbs 15:1 which states, “A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.” This is also reiterated in Proverbs 15:18 which states, “A wrathful man stirreth up strife: but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife.” This is all showing the outcome of things which occur when we carry ourselves in the manner of wrath and anger. If we try to stir up anger through an adverse reaction to something such as someone tripping over our foot or bumping into us due to us not being able to control ourselves emotionally, it will almost always result in our own demise because we did not practice wisdom in being circumspect. This is why it is very important for us to eradicate this anger which can be achieved through fasting. It is the difference between us becoming better and pulling ourselves from our own web of grief to us completely damning ourselves and pulling ourselves downward to the pit of our own destruction.

Fasting can also heal us from extreme lust or sex addiction. However, it must be emphasized that as with anger, it must be done in supplication with the will to change and humility along with the work on our part to not give into our own lust and addiction to sex. Fasting is what can help us with this. It puts things into perspective and keeps us in a spiritual state to help better improve ourselves. There are many people who are struggling with sex addiction and porn addiction. After giving into our lust for so long, it is ingrained within us to submit to our impulses and carnal desires and indulge in it. Fasting helps bring discipline into our lives and teaches us to focus on higher things rather than thinking within the vortex of our own carnal desires. Truthfully, for something as overwhelming as sex addiction, a fast for 30 days is what may truly be needed in that case. We put the Most High first before ourselves during these fasts and all of our thoughts are directed towards Him. When we do this continuously, it slowly chips away at our impulses and that blockade of carnality which is serving as the stumbling block that is blocking us from ascending to a higher connection to the Most High. Lust is something that we pretty much do every day. If we look at a picture of a woman and we say to ourselves something along the lines of, “Damn, she’s fine”, and we start scrolling through looking at her body, we just lusted. However, with this kingdom of America, sex is everywhere. It is pretty much impossible for the most part to not lust somewhat; even in as low of a level as that. The only way probably to not do so is if you completely go off grid and just cut off all Internet and connection to the outside world but who is really doing that right now? I speak on sex addiction or extreme lust from the standpoint of a man or woman not being able to function or go about their day without watching porn or masturbating or not being able to keep their hands off of another person because they’re so lustful. Those are all serious issues. There isn’t anything wrong essentially with masturbation but as with everything else, it must be done in moderation. If you go about masturbating five times a day, you have an addiction. If you watch porn five or six hours a day, you have an addiction. It must be dealt with immediately; otherwise it will grow into something beyond your control and may lead to your own demise. Look at how many men lose their careers or even their own freedoms by going to jail because they didn’t take the time to heal themselves of their sex addiction. Fasting can help deal with this and heal us of that addiction. It of course will not heal us solely on its own but it must be done in supplication with humility, discipline, willpower to change, and the work on our end to change for the better. This emphasizes the importance of doing things within a spiritual frame because fasting in and of itself does not heal us from our addictions but fasting from a spiritual foundation based in the love of the Most High is what can do that for us.

In closing, fasting is something that should not only be done regularly for reasons of discipline and love for our Creator, it should also be done to help set ourselves right spiritually and to work on our emotional and spiritual weaknesses to become better servants for Him in this spiritual journey. We all are struggling with something. None of us are perfect. This is why we lean on the Most High for understanding and guidance and not our own. It is through Him that we become better. Men of true wisdom along with our own efforts can only help so much. This is why we must always come back to the source which is the Most High through His Word as it is our guidance each and every day. It serves as the roots of the tree; the foundation. Fasting is merely a branch but as a branch holds fruit, so does the branch of fasting.

Peace and Blessings to you all. All Praises to the Most High Yahweh Elohim and Son Yahweh Ben Yahweh.
